Preparation: All training is coordinated by the Parish (additional training is required through the Diocese). All new ministers will be asked to attend a general meeting with other members of the liturgical team. A separate meeting will be held with new Eucharistic Ministers to explain the policies and procedures involved in the nursing home.

Purpose: The purpose of this ministry is to distribute communion at Mass each weekend, each holy day, and on other special occasions. Additionally, regular distribution of the Eucharist at selected nursing homes in the community is also a function of this ministry.
Commitment: The ministry is open to all confirmed Catholics in good standing with the Church and requires a commitment to a regular assignment at Mass, at a nursing home, or at both. Ministers assigned to Mass are expected to serve for a full month regularly based on a 2 or 3 month rotating schedule, and find substitutes when unable to be at their assigned Mass.
