Purpose: To provide and prepare nutritional, wholesome meals to those living in the West Side area. These meals are prepared and served at St. Patrick’s Church at 3610 Bridge Ave. While volunteering with the Hot Meals Program, there may be additional areas that one may consider to continue to volunteer: tutoring, mentoring and serving meals.
Commitment: Currently there are two groups that take turns preparing and serving the meals on the third Wednesday of every month. A person would be asked to participate every other month for approximately 4 hours at St. Patrick’s. The meals are served beginning at 5:30 p.m. with meal preparations starting around 3:30 p.m. - Please, no children under the age of 15 for safety reasons.
Preparation: This is a “hands-on” training. If you can boil water, read simple directions and handle a knife or a can opener, you are more than qualified.
